Accountability

He doesn't care what you think — he won't even take your questions.

LaHood did not host a single town hall from April 2018 to April 2025.1 In that time, hundreds of constituents attended a "Town Hall Without LaHood,"2 others protested outside his district offices,3 and Democratic Congressman Sean Casten actually held one in LaHood's own district instead.4

LaHood has held one town hall since April 2025 — conducted "over the phone."5 Many constituents publicly questioned whether it actually happened or whether attendees were hand-picked, as most were never informed it was occurring and received no instructions to call in.5

Healthcare

He doesn't care if you can afford a doctor — or make it to the ER.

LaHood voted yes on the "Big, Beautiful Bill" — the largest transfer of wealth from working families to the rich in American history.1 Thousands of Illinoisans have already seen their health care premiums spike dramatically.2

Rural hospitals face funding shortages that could force closures, leaving thousands of Illinois residents dangerously far from emergency care.3,4 Millions on Medicare now face risk from changes to federal health funding.5,6 Constituents have protested outside LaHood's offices demanding answers — and were ignored.7

Agriculture

He doesn't care if farmers' crops rot in silos — instead of being exported.

LaHood has supported Donald Trump's trade wars and tariffs every step of the way, putting Illinois farmers last and Trump's political fights first.

Because of the trade war with China, Illinois soybean exports fell from $1.3 billion in 2017 to $116 million in 2018 — a 90% drop — and further collapsed to just $29 million by 2020.1 These policies have dramatically raised the cost of nitrogen, herbicide, pesticide, agricultural equipment and heavy machinery, threatening to bankrupt hundreds of Illinois farmers.2,3,4,5

Follow the Money

He doesn't care about anyone — who isn't a billionaire.

The only people LaHood's votes have helped are the ultra-wealthy. The "Big, Beautiful Bill" raised health care costs, threatened hospitals, defunded after-school programs, and hurt soybean farmers — all to facilitate the largest redistribution of wealth from working families to billionaires in American history.1,2,3

This pattern runs through LaHood's entire tenure: he consistently supports corporate interests and massive military spending while opposing funding for healthcare, after-school programs, and food assistance.4 It's no mystery why — more than half of his political contributions come from corporate PACs, not individuals in his district.5
